Around The World gadget for Google Desktop |
|
What does it do? Travel around the world with this Google Desktop gadget. Every time you start your computer (or when you get bored), you get a new location with pictures, info and links to Wikipedia pages and .kmz files (for Google Earth).
File size: 21 KB
Location list with links to .kmz files, Wikipedia pages, and curiosities about interesting places. Buttons
You have 3 buttons. The first button toggles the display, changing the size of the gadget (which is remembered between uses) so it’s easier to place it where ever you want. The gadget changes the featured location every time you start your computer, but the first button also enables you to change it when you get bored. The second button is actually a link to the Wikipedia page about the featured location and the third button is a link to a .kmz file which will direct you to the place in Google Earth.
Automated features
The gadget automatically connects to the internet to download the data (location pictures and info) at startup or when the display is enlarged by pressing the first button (see previous paragraph). The picture and information alternate on their own once the display is enlarged.
